FilmShift offers three resources to independent filmmakers: Our film festival, our screenplay competition, and our independent film consultation/advice service.
Our Mission
The FilmShift Festival is dedicated to creating positive social change in local communities by supporting the art of film, filmmakers themselves, and small businesses of all kinds.
Strong, vital, and diverse local communities are essential to both our country’s and our Global Community’s prosperity. Economic, environmental, and artistic progress for our planet must start locally and be built from the ground up.
Many independent productions already use small businesses and vendors to create their films, and The FilmShift Festival is a tool to highlight their success.
The FilmShift Festival is an event primed for the times, a cutting-edge common ground for art, entertainment, and business to come together to create positive social change for all.
Why Buy Local?
Buying “local” keeps your community strong and vital. It creates new jobs, encourages competition and innovation, and builds a stronger, economically sound, culturally diverse Nation.
FilmShift Festival
The FilmShift Festival celebrates films from across the nation, produced independently and on the local level by professionals and students using predominantly small or “Green” businesses.

Some genres of films that we’re seeking include, but are not limited to: Drama, Comedy, Thriller, Horror, Documentary, Music Video, Animated, and Student films.
Twenty percent of the festival’s gross ticket sales will be donated evenly to 2 non-profit groups: Christopher’s Haven (a juvenile cancer support foundation) and Metrowest Family Theater (an inclusive community theater group.)
“Green” Film Showcase
Films that best utilize local/small business vendors or films that shed a unique light on the struggle of local, sustainable, and green businesses will be presented in a featured showcase at the festival.
Student Films Showcase
Student films also have a featured showcase at the festival. The FilmShift Festival gives students the chance to present their work to a mass audience, and in turn, for the audience to see rookie filmmakers on the rise.
FilmShift Screenplay Competition
We accept both feature-length and short film scripts for our annual FilmShift screenplay competition Submit Your Screenplay »
We welcome screenplays of all genres and styles that tell strong and original stories. Both professional and Student writers are encouraged to submit their work to compete for a variety of prizes and awards.
